OVERVIEW

The vane shear test apparatus consists of a four-blade stainless steel vane attached to a steel rod that will be pushed into the ground. The height of the vane is usually twice its overall widths and is often equal to 10 cm or 15 cm.
The equipment consists of a torque applicator assembly mounted on a base. A gear wheel, which is marked in degrees, holds a torque ring and is geared to a crank.

SPECIFICATIONS

A typical vane shear test kit usually contains the following items:

  • Torque wrench.
  • Drive head.
  • Extension rods, usually D20/D22x1000 mm.
  • Spanner for extension rod.
  • 2 or 3 Vane sizes. Common sizes: 19×38 mm, 25x50mm, 30x60mm, 75.8×151.5 mm.
  • Transport Case.

FEATURES
